Some Serious Catching Up!!

My oh my! Where does the time go.....

It has been almost two months since my last post... It is tough working and being a mom... =) I know that lots of people do it and are still able to blog but it is pretty difficult for me to stay on top of this... I hope to do a better job over the holidays but we will see... No one hold your breath!

First, so much has happened over the last several weeks.... We had Leighton's first Halloween, her first Thanksgiving, and her first tooth! Despite having the H1N1 flu, she is growing like a weed and doing great now!

Soon after my last post Leighton was diagnoised with the H1N1 flu... She handled it like a champ! We had one tough night when her temperature got up to 104.7 degrees but that was pretty much the extent of the super high temps... We watched her closely for several weeks and she did have a secondiary infection of broncitus and rhinitus but was able to stop it there... Jeff and I were very lucky to have Leighton's grandmother, Si Si - Jeff's mom, come and stay with us for nearly 3 weeks! It was just what the doctor ordered! She was able to rest and be loved on at the same time... I am positive that it is one of the reasons she was able to recover from the flu and do so quickly...

The OU/Texas football game fell during the flu. She was doing much better. Here she is with her Daddy and Si Si wishing them well before they headed to the game early Saturday morning. She did NOT go to the game but still sported the appropriate attire (per her Daddy) to watch the game at home.

Just resting with Daddy

This has too be the worst set of boogers ever! One morning, I went to get the precious thing and this is what I was "greeted" with... =) At least she wore them with a big smile!

After we dealt with the flu it was time to celebrate her first Halloween! Her MiMi (my mom) came in for the weekend to participate in all the fun... We went to the local farmer's market to take a few pictures with the pumpkins before it was time to meet all the trick or treaters... We had a couple of outfits for the day as well as one for every week leading up to the events! I hope you enjoy the pictures below.

Next big event was Leighton's first Thanksgiving... We were in Franklin with my family to celebrate this year... Jeff, Lori and I went to the game after we had Thanksgiving lunch with the entire family and took a family picture for MiMi and P-Paw's Christmas card... The lunch, pictures, and the game were lots of fun! Although the game didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, I guess you can say that part of the family was happy... =)

Leighton's Thanksgiving meal.... Rice Cereal with Sweet Potatoes & Corn!

Game Day Picture!
Leighton was "neutral" and wore a little burnt orange and little maroon...

On Saturday, before we headed back home, MiMi was hanging out with Leighton by herself when she found a new little addition... Leighton's first tooth! That is right folks the first tooth had broken through... It is still not out 100% but it is movin' on up! The whole weekend she started chewing her tounge... I think she had found it too!!! We were able to catch one photo of some tounge chewing but that is all you can see for now.... One more thing you will notice below... She is up and rocking on those hands and knees... Not actually crawling yet, just rocking and "scooting" backwards for now... Shouldn't be much longer, or at least that is what I am affraid of.... =)

MORE TO COME............

Leighton Seeing Stars

We had a busy weekend! MiMi and P-Paw were in town for a quick trip, we went to a baby shower, and a Stars signing event... It was a crazy whirlwind of a weekend but we had lots of fun... Can't wait to meet Baby Hamilton!!!

Can you see where Nick Grossman signed my jacket? He is one of mom's favorites...

My first teething biscuit... Yummy!!!

And can you believe that I am 6 months old?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

We also recently spent a weekend in Austin with SiSi, T-Paw, Mammo, Uncle Brian and Brandon... It was a nice and relaxing weekend... SiSi (aka Susan) took some really good pictures but I don't have them on my computer so I can't share... =( I will try to get them and post later... There is a really great picture of Leighton and Jeff before the football game...

Lots of Catching Up....

Well it has been a while since my last post... I knew it would be hard to keep up... I hope to do a better job of this but I am sure that it will take some time... =) We have had a pretty busy month... Jeff's mom (Si Si), grandmother (Mammo), and brother (Brian) came for a visit in August... We all had a great time hanging out and spending time with one another... I didn't take any pictures with my camera and didn't get the ones Susan took before they headed home so nothing to share from that trip... She did take some good pictures though so maybe I will post a few later...

August 25th was Poppa's 80th birthday and we all went to Franklin to celebrate with family... We had a good time that weekend even though we had car problems with Jeff's brand new company car... Car issues are the worst!

Mi Mi gave Leighton a bath on Friday night in her new duck while Mommy and Daddy went to watch Porter and Daniel play in their first varsity football game... They didn't win but since then they have won all their other games... Way to go Lions!

Leighton and Mi Mi down at the barn checking out all the animals Saturday morning...

Leighton and Mommy checking out the cows... I didn't mind them but I am not a fan of those annoying turkeys...

Leighton and Caroline (Cara's little girl) at Poppa's 80th Birthday party...

Morgan and our new little Brody (Bo's little boy) at the party...

We were on our way to church when the car decided to grow a mind of its own... So much for church... The rest of the afternoon was spent calling a tow truck, getting a rental, and hanging out...

Poppa and Bobba came out to the house to bring Mommy and Mi Mi lunch since they didn't have a car while Daddy and P-Paw went to pick up a rental so we could get home... I also went to bed pretty early while at Poppa and Bobba's house the night before, so this Poppa's birthday picture with Leighton...

Leighton made all kinds of faces all afternoon long, most of which included lots of slober!

We finally made it home!

Happy 5 month birthday to Leighton!!!

5 months has gone by so fast... She thinks it is all so funny!

The next weekend Mommy and Leighton headed to Franklin for lots of reasons while Daddy went in a different direction to Austin for the first Longhorn football game of the season... This is what most of the fall is like for the Goodsells... Leighton and I were both so ready to get out of the car once we got to Mi Mi's...

That uniform scares most including Leighton!

The day of the first TAMU football game... We had lots to do before the game and Leighton got to join us in her new overalls her Mi Mi made... She was the hit of the day... Jeff calls it her costume! Whatever he wants to call it is fine with me... It brought the Aggies luck for sure! Thanks Mi Mi!

Mi Mi's girls

My grandfather, Dad, fell the Wednesday before we left and broke his hip... He had surgery on Saturday and we took Leighton by to see him... He is doing great and was very happy to see her... We also went to visit the Shenkir family to let them know that we were there for them during their time of grief with the loss of Frank... Leighton brought a smile to everyone's face... We love you Juanice!!!

I think she had enough... She fell asleep at the hospital which was our last stop before we headed back to Franklin to drop off the bird and pick up Lori for the season opener...

Gig'em Aggies!!!

The nationally famous Fighting Texas Aggie Band!

When we got home Leighton tried out her Exersaucer for the first time...
She loves it!

Just hanging out

This weekend my friend from college Jill came over with her little girl Lily to play... The girls had such a good time playing with one another...

Lily is so precious! Leighton had finished her bottle and it was sitting on the coffee table... While Lily was playing she found the bottle and decided that Leighton may need it so she brought it over and tried to feed the baby... What a sweetheart!

Rolling over and the Aquarium

Last weekend was lots of fun and Leighton even had a first! Yep, Leighton rolled over!  The daycare had actually seen her do it on Wednesday (week before last) and then she did for us all weekend long... She can roll from her back to her stomach like a champ but then after a while when she wants to go back she gets pretty frustrated as she hasn't figured out how... She likes to move! Stationary is not this girls thing... =) I didn't have a really good picture of her rolling over but here is one of her stopping half way to watch a little t.v....  P-Paw and Bobba also came up for the weekend so they got to see it for the first time too! Her Mi Mi wasn't able to make it but sent the movie Finding Nemo which was really cute and what she is watching in the picture below... I am getting to see some of these great animated movies I have never seen before with Leighton's arrival....

Bobba and P-Paw didn't make it on Friday before Leighton had to go to bed but Bobba was up early the next morning with her and we had a great day... Jeff played in a golf tournament all weekend so he didn't get to hang out much... It didn't stop of from having some fun ourselves... =)

I love Bobba!

I love P-Paw!

Sunday morning after we got up, had breakfast, and got ready, P-Paw, Bobba, Leighton and I headed to the Dallas aquarium... I was pretty excited to check it out and Leighton sure likes the fish and Mi Mi and P-Paws so we thought she might too! The first part of the aquarium is actually like a zoo... Lots of birds, monkey, snakes, reptiles, penguins and even a sloth!  There were a couple of otters we saw in the beginning that were chasing each other in the water and screaming... Leighton was not a fan of this and thought she should start screaming too!  She was also hungry so we pulled over to the side and had a snack before we were off again... It was nap time for the rest of the trip until we got to the aquarium part... She really liked the bigger fish and colorful ones... Whatever was easy to see she watched...

Trying to roll over on the couch with P-Paw before heading out to the aquarium

Bobba the Pirate! This bird loved her as much as we do!

Nap time with the Penguins!

Check out this sea creature! The octopus was one of my favs...

The Zoo Crew!

Bobba wanted to take 2 of these home for her yard!

Watching the manatee with P-Paw

Look at the Manatee!

It was a long but fun weekend! After lunch with Jeff, P-Paw and Bobba headed back to Franklin... Jeff and Leighton watched a little Sunday golf and took a nap... The perfect end to the perfect weekend!

Stretching after a fun weekend!

Thanks P-Paw and Bobba for a fun weekend... Sorry that we didn't make it to the Twisted Root Burger but we will next time... Mi Mi and Aunt Lori, we missed you! Thank you for the movie and pajamas!
